An in-home date night with tacos? Say less! Danielle and Brian’s couple’s session was everything I dreamed of: cozy, candle lit tables, filled with homey corners everywhere (and delicious local food). As a Indiana digital and Indiana film photographer, this session truly called for multiple photography forms. Especially with indoor sessions, the grainy shadows and sun pouring through the windows needed the slowed down nature of analog film. It forces me as the photographer to slow down and absorb the raw moments around me. Plus, the black and white film was a wonderful contrast from the warm digital photos.
As soon as I entered the Yoder home, I could tell this space was a space of love and warm evenings together. This was exactly our mission tonight, capturing what an evening may look like for them! Blankets were thrown on the couch casually, an eclectic collection of chairs around the table, drinks were brewed, and fresh flowers in vases. To set the mood, Danielle put on an old school vinyl on the record player. They both lit the candles on the dining room table, and on the mantel above the fireplace. And then, they dove into the tacos (they even bought a few extra for me!).

After sipping on margaritas and eating local tacos, we switched vibes and went to the living room. From there, we spent some time listening to Danielle play the piano. Brian sat on the rocking chair nearby, listening to his wife play. There is something special about filling your home with music, especially when you’re making that music yourself.
Brian and Danielle concluded their time in the living room by cuddling on the couch. A dance in the kitchen was, of course, necessary. A snagged a quick film shot when they threw up their hands to make a shadow heart on the wall. There was nothing I loved more than this session!
